Founder of Cologne institution Kompakt and heralded as a figurehead of the minimal techno movement, Wolfgang Voigt has made his mark on the world of electronic music. Inspired by the acid house explosion of the late ’80s he heard while in London, Voigt began producing music as Mike Ink and in 1993 co-founded the record store Delirium in Cologne which eventually became Kompakt, a name with global cachet. Minimal techno pioneer Wolfgang Voigt talked about the similarities between German forests and a packed club, pared-back production techniques and why minimal music is nothing without that human touch in his RBMA Barcelona 2008 Lecture.
